Welcome to the WInSAR Data Archive, now running in parallel at multiple universities.

WInSAR is a consortium of universities and research laboratories established by a group of practicing scientists and engineers to facilitate collaboration in, and advancement of, Earth science research using radar remote sensing. WInSAR helps coordinate requests for data acquisition and for data purchase, aiding individual investigators by simplifying interactions with data providers and with government agencies funding science, including NASA, NSF, and the USGS.

WInSAR does not review or fund research, but facilitates both collaboration among scientists and also access to radar data. WInSAR continues the tradition of the scientific method by encouraging and promoting reproduction, verification, and extension of scientific results.

Access to WInSAR Resources

Institutions with a basic research mission are eligible to join WInSAR. Individuals or groups using radar data for commercial or operational purposes are not eligible. Access to WInSAR resources is strictly limited to WInSAR members.

To access archived radar data, you must be registered with the WInSAR Consortium. However, registration is not needed to search for data files.

A stand-alone fast download client is available for registered members who want to download datafiles at a faster rate than standard browsers allow. This client is different from the old Winster application, whose other features are now available through this website. Go here for details.

Help and instructions for some WInSAR archive features are available.

WInSAR News - RFP for Host Institutions

WInSAR is seeking proposals from potential host institutions. Please refer to the RFP posted here (html format) for information about hosting WInSAR.

Please post to our discussion forum about the future of WInSAR.
